Thank you for your tips on the SSN. SSA wasn't able to locate the previous SSN that was assigned to me (about 3 years ago) so they sent the paper off to USCIS and verified my identity and assigned a number for me. It came very quick. I was able to get my SSN in a week and actual card came in just 2 days ago. Took about 3 weeks for the card to be mailed
Thank you

Hi All,
Your welcome, but refresh my memory here. You are absolutely sure you
were assigned an SSN and an SSA office couldn't locate the SSN by seating
the system? The Alphadent is normally pretty good at coming up with
SSNs. You enter all the person's info, i.e. name, DOB, place of birth,
parent's names. Plus you can set it to look for possible DOB that are
up to 12 months and/or 4 years from what's entered for the DOB.
That's what was used to find a person's SSN and give it out over the
phone, before the policy was changed.
Take care,
Mike

Yes, we went to the SSA in person and had entered all the personal information plus parents' info. The associate asked if i have had applied for ssn and i said yes. Nothing came up on her computer, she said that she'll have to send in request for verification for SSA and USCIS. A week letter, i was called to go in to ssa and was told that they couldn't locate the number that was assigned therefore, a new number was assigned to me

Hi All,
You said you applied, but maybe an SSN was never assigned. No need to
worry about it unless you had worked under another SSN. Then you
wouldn't get credit for those earnings.
Take care,
Mike
