Thanks for your reply.

I had two emails late Sunday night from the USCIS confirming receipt of the i485 and i765 forms - they also cashed my cheque this morning. So looks like we are slowly progressing.

Sweet, your NOA1's shouldn't be far behind in the mail and your Biometrics appointment notification will probably come pretty quickly too.

I have my Biometrics this Thursday in Denver which is one of the slowest offices. Looking on the USCIS website they're currently processing I485's with a file date of 28th February 2016... in for a long wait after this Biometrics appointment!

The I-797C letters arrived today which is good.

Says biometrics appointment letter follows - eventually I guess?

Benk91> How long did you have to wait for your EAD (work approval) to come? I'm looking around for work now but obviously cant accept any job until that comes.

I don't have my EAD yet as I only did my Biometrics yesterday and we're waiting on a request for initial evidence from our I-485.

I'm trying to figure out how to actually expedite the process for the EAD as my father in law can offer me a job here and so a pending job offer letter should (from what I've read so far) allow us to expedite the process and get it here quicker!

All you can do is take the job offer to the USCIS office and try to ask for an expedited EAD. They might ask for the reason you need it expedited, so be prepared to show financial hardship.

You can't. There was a time when you could... but those days are long gone. As I've mentioned elsewhere, however, unauthorized work is routinely forgiven for the spouse of a USC.

Word of caution from a life experienced person, do not work for a family member. You will be so scrutinized by that member and your work habits will be talked about with all family members whether it is good or bad. You are married now, stand up and apart from your wife's family and make your own separate lives.

Well got a letter from USCIS yesterday asking for "Initial Evidence re i-485".

Turns out we sent in my wife's W2 documents for 2014, 2015 and 2016 but they also wanted a copy of her 2015 1040 IRS tax document. After some searching around we found I had a copy of it from London embassy interview so we got this mailed to them first thing this morning.

Still no sign of biometrics appointment letter or EAD (sigh)

Voluntary work going ok though - pretty mundane but gets me out the house 2-days a week which is good and applying for jobs while I wait.

The 1040 should have been sent originally. I'm not surprised you got an RFE for them.

Unfortunately an RFIE will likely reset the clock on the I-765 and you won't be getting your EAD before biometrics (the photo and prints on EAD card are from the biometrics appointment).

I hope not - the process seems very slow as it is!

They gave us two address' to send the paperwork back to so we choose the express mail one so they should get it back tomorrow.

Well arrived around 30mins early for biometrics. Only one other person ahead of me so I was in/out before my scheduled appointment time which was good. Photo, signature and fingerprints. Lady was nice and chatty. Told me I should get the EAD in next few weeks.
