K1 Visa Interview with a Cannabis Warning
Hi,
So, I'm getting kinda worried about the next steps.
I recently just got the NOA2 approval back, and I'm starting to get everything ready for the medical and interview at the embassy in London.
I have a cannabis warning that is less than a year old. It is the only thing that I have ever been in trouble with the police. It was less than 1gram, the police confiscated it and gave me a warning, I was never arrested or taken to the police station. I don't remember ever being given a document/receipt from the officer, I might have but I can't remember.
Also, for the record, I do not consume cannabis myself, the cannabis was found in my car, which I assume was dropped/left there by accident, however since it was in the car with me, technically it was in my possession. I was given the option of being arrested or cautioned.
I will truthfully tell the medical professional that I do not take recreational drugs and will happily take any drug tests.
Would this be taken into consideration? Is there anything I can do to support this?
I have been reading on here that people have been denied the K1 visa based on warnings from years ago, and it's starting to stress and worry me.
I'm aware that a cannabis warning will show up on an ACRO report, am I right? I have just applied for a Subject Access Report to see if it comes up on there.
If anyone could advise me on what could possibly happen, and any way to deal with it with be highly appreciated, thank you

You will need to show a copy of the police report at the medical exam, so it could come up. Of course be honest, as you said.
Just be honest all the way through, at the interview as well. That's all you can do.
So you chose the caution?

And yet this was less than a year ago! A guy on our local radio station likes to note that "drugs make you stupid!" I understand that you didn't take the cannabis... but the result seems to be much the same!
No... it was actually in your possession. I understand that you're trying to minimize and deflect what happened, but US immigration takes a dim view of drugs at the best of times... so when you have your interview, be humble; be contrite; accept your role in what happened; don't try to deflect or place blame elsewhere. Own the caution... and you'll likely be fine.
Yes.
Yes - tell the truth... always!
There is always the possibility that the visa will be denied. That's the chance everyone takes. However, for every visa denied because of a drug caution, there are many more where the visa is granted.
Most likely, yes.
Whether it shows up or not is irrelevant. The incident happened and you can't undo the past.
