Default K1 visa affidavit of support

Hey all.

we're in the process of applying for the K1 visa, We just received our noa2 so I am just trying to collect things together for the interview today. However affidavit of support, my partner has been in England for the last year visiting me on a tourist visa meaning he hasn't worked this year.

His dad has offered to be my affidavit of support as he meets well over the GA requirements of $16,200. Would this be a problem? Also if I wanted to additionally self sponsor myself how much money would i require?

Hope someone can help. Many Thanks

Rachel

Do not know the current number, ask the Consulate, seems to be what they thought was good for 90 days.

For the K-1 you will use an I-134. This form has one sponsor.

That sponsor can be your fiance's dad as long as he is a US citizen or LPR.

There is no hard and fast rule on earnings required. Being more than the 125% I-864p is a good target.

You will need to take financial proof related to him, such as tax transcripts and also proof of his US citizenship or LPR.

I recall a thread on here a while back that said the income requirement for the I-134 is the 100% column on the I-864P.

Then the I-864 uses the 125% column.

As for "self sponsoring", one would need to show enough in savings/assets. I would say a start would be 3x the 100% figure.

Thank you, I think ill only have around £3000 at the time of my interview, after the interview ill have another pay check before leaving for the US but obviously I won't be able to show proof of this. Would $4000 be enough to show i can support myself?

Thats no problem at all. Should i add my fiancee in there too, or just his dad? Im worried about taking too little information as i don't want a rfe over something small.

No. The I-134 is to be completed only by his dad.

To give you some reassurance, my (now) wife's dad did the same thing for us. No issues.
