Intent to domicile in the US
Hi again everybody,
So looking to move to US in Jan 2019. Will go down the CR 1 route with DCF Filing in London.
We plan to move to LA, find an apartment and look for work. What can I show on the application that I intend to domicile in the US?
Also, We have plenty of photos together over the past 4 years but not much else! She owns a flat here..all bills are in her name - I just give her half of the mortgage and bills in a direct debit each month. Do I need to show more evidence we are 'together'? Would it be worth getting a bill in my name?
Any advice gratefully received!
Thanks in advance.

You don't need to show intent to domicile on the application. Bring some proof to the interview. This is for the USC to show. Anything that shows intent to cut ties to the UK and establish ties to the USA.
In the absence of joint accounts and such, you can get sworn affidavits from people who know you as a married couple.

Thanks Rene, that's great. We'll get affidavits.
How could she show that intent? We really don't have any concrete plans for what we're going to be doing. Enquires about renting property? Job apps?
Thanks again.

Registering with an employment agency/head hunter.
There is no set rule and they are not insistent on your 'proving' your intent. They realize that if you are spending the money and going through the immigration visa process then you have intent.
Stop worrying that the small stuff, i.e. intent of move and one day confidential marriage ceremony and registry.
You won't be filing the moment you return to the UK so if it takes a week or two for the registered certified copy of the marriage certificate, big deal.
PS I would not go with any affidavits as you are not doing the I-130 stateside but doing DCF in London. Two different animals.

So no affidavits...what would you suggest apart from marriage cert?
Thanks
