Sept 04, 2014: Mailed off the police check.
Sept 12th, 2014: Got police certificate.
Sept 22nd, 2014: Got a strange postal notice saying we were not in on the 20th (two days ago, but the notice was delivered today, and we were home, and no one buzzed?) and we owe £1.11 for a package sent to us with not enough postage paid. So, I emailed: [email protected] saying “We sent our I-130 on Aug. 7th, 2014 and according to your site (Filing I-130/I-360 | Embassy of the United States) you are now processing the date of petitions filed on August 11th, 2014. We have not heard anything or received anything. Can you please inform me of the status of my I-130?” Tomorrow morning we will go to the post office.
Sept 23, 2014: Got package at post office and it WAS our I-130 approval, stating we were approved on Sept 12. Got a very nice email reply stating the same on the same day. (YAY!)

28 December 2013: Civil Partnership (UK)
14 May 2014: Marriage (Iceland)
9 June 2014: I-130 sent
17 June 2014: Email from USCIS dated 11 June, 45-60 days to process
16 July 2014: NOA 2 approval letter dated 15 July 2014
4 August 2014: Case number received and medical scheduled for 26/8/14
14 August 2014: Completed DS-260 & notification of readiness online
26 August 2014: Medical attended - additional info requested
26 August 2014: CEAC status updated to "Ready"
28 August 2014: Additional info requested from GP
30 August 2014: Interview letter received, interview date 29 September 2014
19 Sept 2014: Took additional info to the Embassy Doctors (needed a letter about a history of digestive troubles!)
29 Sept 2014: Interview - Visa approved!!

Total time from mailing I-130 to visa approval = 112 days

A note that might be of interest to other folks: My wife had to go on a work trip abroad right after her interview and could not leave her passport- this was not a problem and she can courier it to them when she's back. Also she was told the current waiting time for the visa to be put in the passport is 2 weeks, which is longer than I've seen listed on here before.
