Default I-765 filed, should I get a receipt?

Hi,

I filed (on 17th May) the I-765 to apply for an EAD based on L2 visa. I
filed with the California Service Center.

I was wondering if I should be getting some sort of notification to say
they have my application? If so how long does this take?

If it makes a difference the application was sent by Fedex which shows
that it was delivered.

Thanks in advance

Yes, you should be getting a Notice of Action (NOA) which says they received the I-765. I'd say it might take up to a few weeks to receive that.

Then you'll be getting a biometrics appointment letter. No way of telling when that might show up, but if you don't get one by 90 days from the NOA date, make an Infopass appointment at your local office and go inquire about it in person.

Best Wishes,
Rene

did they already cash the check? If yes, get a copy of the cancelled check from your bank. On the backside, they usually write your case number. With this case number you can check your case status online and find out, what the status is.
