I-751 timeline
Just filed our I-751 with Vermont and got our NOA dated October 1, 2003 and
was wondering how long it was taking Vermont to process? Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: I-751 timeline
Since I started dealing with the Immigration Service back in '99, I have
always used Matt's site http://members.aol.com/MDUdall/sctimes.htm for
reference. For instance I knew within 1 week when we would get a decision on
our I-751. You can keep track yourself!
A big THANK YOU to Matt Udall for keeping that information update and making
it available!

Do note that any SC's proessing time is limted to the SERVICE CENTER only. Except in cases of statutory ineligiblity, the SC's do NOT deny cases -- they refer them to the local districts for interviews.
So concievably, the SC may complete processing the case by transfering it to the district. And you do NOT get notice that this has happened.
Now, the next question is "why would a case be transferred?". Who knows? The former INS did say they had guidelines, but as an enformcement related policy, they would not disclose the details. However, they DID disclose that a certain number of cases are picked at RANDOM to be interviewed.
So, you may have the perfect case, perfectly documented, no doubt about the validity of the marriage -- a low fraud country, no racial, ethnic or age differences, combined finances, pictures and the child -- and you get interviewed.
So, how long to the end? I have no idea. My experience is all over the planet that I can't even draw an educated guess.
Do note that a later filed naturalization application just might pull that I-751 out the doldrums in order to be adjudicate concurrently.

Re: I-751 timeline
As an FYI: My husband and I applied via VSC for I-751 end of March 2002. Still
waiting! By the look sof Matt's timeline they are now working on March 2002
applications. My husband (from Canada) also applied for citizenship April of
this year; still waiting to hear on an appointment (was fingerprinted in June
2003).

I have a question regarding this. If your I-751 has not been adjudicated by the time you are eligible to naturalize and you do indeed file for naturalization, the USCIS adjudicates the I-751 and N-400 (?) "together" (at least it is my understanding). However, does the naturalization process get delayed because of the adjucation of the already delayed I-751? If so, is the delay of the order of 1-3 months or more like 6-12 months?
Thanks,
Caroline

The receipt date from the VSC on our I-751 is Feb 11, 2002.
As of today (10/13/03 we have heard nothing regarding our I-751.
The receipt date of our N-400 (through Hartford) was mid April.
N-400 fingerprinting occured in June.
Since then we have heard nothing.

I-751
Hi all,
I was just wandering...let's say I-751 is not processed in time and I can apply for naturalization (in my case that would be next May). However, my daughter is on the same I-751 application (and she will be eligible for naturalization in 2006 - 5 years requirementapplies to her). If naturalization has an effect on I-751 processing (to pull it out of the doldrums as Mr. F aptly put it) - what happens to the part of I-751 process for my daughter? Would her case be processed together with mine (since it's all on the same form) or would her part of I-751 be lost for who knows how long... I'm asking this because regardless of submitting one form for both of us, the NOAs were sent separately to each name. I'd appreciate any ideas, experiences, feedback...
