They may. They did for us, but that was before the new biometrics scheme.

Make sure you've taken a photocopy of the front/back of your current card; if they take it it shouldn't matter to you.

I do not think they have one standard procedure RE: Taking away the GC or not..

In my case, they did not take away they card.

"New" in my context only. Our experience with having the card lifted is a few years back.

No, they do not take the card off of you. They will stamp the passport and they said the it is your new "Green Card". I would also keep the expired card with you when traveling. I made a international trip since getting the stamp and there were no issues.

I just had my Infopass appointment this morning and got my stamp. I was there all of 15 minutes. They didn't keep my card.

The officer told me to apply for citizenship now and said I'd probably have that before my I-751 was finished.
