Hi Everyone,

I have to apply for the removal of condition on my green card. As I can
consider my self a dual state resident, I am wondering where should I
apply for the condition removal. I got green card in Illinois where I
was living with my wife. Later, I moved to Texas for job, but my wife
had been living there to finish her school. So I maintained my Illinois
address with INS, except a couple of time when she took some courses
here in Texas, and stayed with me for 2/3 months, I changed my address
temporarily to Texas.

Now, I have to file !-751. I guess I have three options:

1. As my case is still based in Illinois, apply there and hope that it
will be approved in next 4 months, becuase my wife is moving to Texas
to be with me, assuming if she get a job here (80% chance that she
will).

2. Apply in Texas. But then my case will have to be moved here.
Frankly, I do not have very high opinion of INS people handling the
transfer of case process. I have heard that they are pretty notorious
about losing the case files.

3. Apply in illinois, and move the case to Texas once my wife moves
here. This seems to be the worst option???

Any suggestions please.

Your I-485 paperwork (that you seem to refer to as "your case") is in
the archives of USCIS (I don't know if it is in Washington DC or in Lee
Summit).

The case will be retieved anyway by the office handling your case.

I really don't see why you wouldn't file with your Texas address

The US Government in my opinion, is the worst when it comes to
processing immigration papers. I had to wait for my green card for over
2years, and when i applied to remove my condition, i am now in the 8th
month in waiting, and when i call their 800 number, i get bounced
around, or get on hold for at least 2 hours..

This country is great for a lot of things, but definitely not in this
regard. Why is it so difficult for them to process some papers???? ANd
why can't everyone get an update on what the is going on with the
appliation.. it is the dumbest set i've ever seen.
