A quick FYI: CA is also the international abbreviation for Canada. But you can certainly put LA/USA.

It won't have been returned if they had written CA / USA, I assure you.

Added to this, why don't you have an existing bank account that you could add your wife to? Or add her to your credit card(s). It's incredibly easy to do, I did it within a week from the US.

If you're not financially competent, then you can only submit what you have imo.
How did you do this? My husband's bank, apartment manager and various insurance companies said no because I have no SSN.

I added my USC wife to my English bank account and 1 appropriate credit card with total ease.

I haven't been in your position, but if I was, I would be arguing the toss with them vehemently that you do NOT require a SSN to open a bank account in the United States. Bank of America opened an account for me without an SSN for example. You know you could always add your USC husband to YOUR UK bank / credit card / savings / investment accounts, right?

My credit card is a no-go. It says he must be a UK resident. I wonder why these places just make up their own rules? I'll go to my bank on Monday and ask the manager. Sure doesn't make it easy for people trying to live with their spouses! Hopefully our petition will be ok with the stuff that is useless. It's all we have.

Which credit card issuer is this out of interest? Either way, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Barclaycard. It says the additional cardholder should reside at my address, which he doesn't. I'm not sure what repercussions I would get for saying he lives here anyway, but I know their overzealous fraud team will stop my card anyway if he tries using it over there.

Ignore the trained idiots in the Indian call centre. E-mail [email protected] to ensure this can be performed for you.
