Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen!

Re: Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen!
Ian, I've only been a member of this forum for ten months or so, but after I'd found it - and when I was encouraging my husband to do the same - I told him (among other things), "Read everything Ian says." You have been a solid and reliable foundation for the members of BE, and I would personally like to say an enormous thank you for all the advice, knowledge and straight-talking you've shared with me throughout my immigration journey. It has been an immeasurable help. Thank you!
This forum will not be the same without you. That being said, I absolutely respect your decision and wish you (and Sheila) all the very best for your future.

Wishing you all the best for the future Ian, as others have said you will be missed!
(You could always just spam the funny picture thread? Tis mainly where I and the cake man live these days).

Somehow only just seen this... Shocked
You will definitely be missed, alleviated my fears many times before and you were always prompt to respond to queries and misconceptions.
Best of luck in the future, Ian!

In fact they are even more broadly applicable, to any and all dealings with government bureaucracy.

I can do that.
The rules are within posts he made, so I have lifted and copied a post from a thread and then created a new thread which I have stickied.

Just seen this post and understand Ian's account has been closed so he won't read this. Ian was an invaluable source of advice for me. Blunt straightforward and always there with an answer. I will miss his wit and advice and I thank him with deep gratitude and wish him well.

While Ian no longer has an active account with BE, it is possible that he has stopped by and read these comments and threads as a lurker.
I'm sure he thanks you all for your kind and wonderful comments.

I'm hoping he'll return at some time, reregister, & join in again. (Doesn't have to be immigration stuff; there's more to life than that!) He had such a great BS detector. We need him!

I know I am late to this thread, but just in case Ian is reading ... without your assistance during my immigrant visa application, I would have messed up several times potentially. Despite your gruff public exterior, in private you were extremely kind. Enjoy your BE retirement.
