Nail on the head. Thin line to cross though if you did infact get cautioned or whatever.

Does your ACRO say No Trace or No Live Trace?

I join in the suggestion that OP at least consult with an attorney. I would also suggest a paid consultation. A good attorney will acknowledge that they may not know the answer off the top of their head but can find out. A part of the answer may be advice on how to approach the issue in the course of your application.

Although retired, I still do volunteer work. Just yesterday, I was asked a immigration related medical question which I did know the answer but I asked the attorney at an adjacent desk and she pointed me to the answer. Attorneys often do this in private practice.
