The BIG white envelope

Re: The BIG white envelope
Curious minds wonder, do US diplomatic posts import letter size stationery or just buy A4 etc locally?

Re: The BIG white envelope
Carried mine in my duffle-bag as my carry on.
Fairly certain I read on VisaJourney once someone taking it in their checked luggage who was then stuck at the immigration desk even though they could see their bag on the carousel 50yds in front of them

Re: The BIG white envelope
I put mine inside a big plastic zip wallet from Staples and then put it inside my backpack. Things have a habit of leaking in my backpack so I kept it in the plastic. At security in Gatwick I was asked to unpack my bag for a random check. Out came the plastic wallet (clear) and the big black writing on it could be seen from outer space. It appears that it was the first time that the security man who was checking my bag had seen one such envelope. He looked at it like it might explode.

Re: The BIG white envelope
Quick question - might be a silly one, but I'll ask anyway :-)
My envelope arrived quite battered once I removed it from the courier plastic bag, including some significant rips at the sides.
Not necessary big enough that me (or anyone) would be able to read/remove/access any of the information in there, but definitely big enough to be noticed.
Given that it has a ginormous sign saying that it cannot be open nor "tempered with", I was wondering if people got their envelope in pristine condition, or if I should try to report it to the Embassy??

Mine certainly wasn't by the time it got to the US, it had little nicks and imperfections in it. As long as no obvious attempt has been made to mess with the seal and/or get at the centents, it isn't a problem.

That said, I do believe the warning is against "tAmpering" with the envelope. I will admit to being amused at the image of heating the envelope followed by quenching in water. My bad.
