Default Beans...what's your fill?

Well it's getting a bit chilly down here, so trying out some new beans, seems to be loads of them these days.

Heinz are great on toast but to pricey, the US veg version ain't to bad a substitute.

B&M beans are generally quite nice, especially the maple/brown sugar and pork and the onion one.

Bush, not to keen on except the chillie ones which make a great base for stuff....anyone tried the grill jobbies?

Anything else worth trying?

And yes, I'm a tad bored

Personally, I love the Bush brand Grillin Beans, can't remember which flavor is my favorite, but they're all good. Second favorite is Bush brand again, regular baked beans....the ones with more maple and bacon flavor. I have some in the cupboard...hmmm, maybe for dinner tonight!

DH likes the Bush's original recipe. He made hash last night since he'd just restocked the beans.
Isn't it awful, as soon as the weather turns? We go straight for those warm cozy foods too. I'd better go for a walk today.

I've tried a lot of Bush's beans and none of them were very good.

My favourites at the moment are Black Label Ranch Style Beans with jalapenos.

Aye, the weather...we had corn chowder the other day and going to have a full roast chicken tomorrow.

As for Bush, I just found them a little too wet, tasted good but soppy...pretty good with hotdogs and slaw when your to lazy to cook something proper though

Nothing but Heinz will do for me...I love beans on toast or chips and beans.

The Greek stall at our farmers' market sells big beans in tomato sauce which are gorgeous - taste similar to UK Heinz.

I can't wait to tell DH that one!

They're known as gigantes (ye-ghantez) in Greece & are lovely. You can find a nice variety of those in cans here, but they're outrageously expensive!

DH loves his beans on toast. He likes the original recipe Bush beans. But then he is Canadian and loves their staple dinner ... kraft mac and cheese.

Corn chowder sounds yummmmmm.
Roast chicken sounds pretty good too, but I can't beg for that yet. He just built a fence this week so maybe I'll take him out for grub instead.

haha..indeed

corn chowder hits the spot...fish chowder would be great but the missus isn't so big on fish, bay scallops and a bit of haddock, but it's not the same without the other gunk...

speaking of chicken though, can't believe you can get a whole chicken for £1 at Tesco...nice little loss leader to get folks in to get the rest of the roast...chicken is costing a wee bit much down my way, certainly compared to a couple years ago which is a bugger...but cost of eggs has at least come down a bit, $1.50 for a dozen is half the price of last summer.

I've never tried beans on toast. What do you do...toast regular white bread, and just dump hot beans on it? Then eat it? Nothing else to it?
