Background check for a job in America
I'm moving to America on a K1. I understand the next process of AOS and applying/waiting for a EAD etc.
Assuming all the applying for jobs/interviews etc go okay and the company runs a background check on you, what will happen?
Will nothing show up since you've just entered the country or can it run an international check and background check the UK side of things?

If you are merely asking about checking your references, yes, if they are interested, they will contact your UK references.

My employer couldn't be bothered and didn't check anything UK.

In the OP's earlier postings he stated that he had a warning for cannabis possession.
Although the employer might not do an international check, many employers DO ask questions on the application/joining papers related to drug use.

Although that situation happened, I believe the officer that was involved was nice enough to do nothing about it and didn't file and paperwork. On my ACRO and SAR there was nothing, 'No trace' on both, so no warning was actually given. Verbal warning if anything.

Wonder how many are truthful. I smoked pot as a young adult and while never asked about drug use by a future employer, I would not have replied yes.

My background check was very thorough! I work for a large financial institution with 55,000+ employees though. With some of those offices in the UK.
Mine did check criminal records back in the UK, they also verified my college degree and all of my employment in the UK.
I also had to complete a drug test.

Mine verified my UK reference, but I don't believe they checked my UK criminal record (not that there was one)

Re: Background check for a job in America
Even UK employers can only get criminal records checks for certain roles (eg involving children or elderly people). So I don't see how a US employer could get one.

They 100% ran a criminal record check in the UK.
