Default he said he'd post details soon...

Hi All,

I told Rohit you'd be wondering whatever happened with the interview!

He said he's post the whole thing soon. But just to give you the short version - the interview went fine overall, but with one glich that has caused a slight delay. However, the visa should be issued within 10 days or so.

THanks so much to everyone for thinking of our family and all the good wishes! I'm sure it helped.

Yes, I have been wondering also. Glad the glitch was nothing serious, and hope it is resolved very soon.

Hi All,

I would have posted if she had gotten the visa in hand...but as Sunny said there was a small problem and that is why I held off. Plus I needed time to cool off.

Here is the long version of what happened (I'm going to save the overall details of what happened after she gets her visa....to help all those that might go through india (Chennia) and anyone else interested).

Sona got to the embassy around 8:30 and they checked what she was taking in at the entrance. To her surprise they would not let her take in a CD (digital pics) inside. They made her get rid of it before entering the building (I don't know why).

After she (I dont know about how long she waited) but an Indian lady working for the consulate checked all her documentation. She went through the photographs and financial stuff and the relationship evidence.

At which point, she notified Sona that everything seems in order but she is missing her pcc from the district police; but the interview would go on and when the interview is over the conselor will instruct on how to get the pcc submitted so that her visa can be issued. So, basically from that point on she was confident about the evidence she had but was also kind of worried about what they would ask her to do to submitt the pcc.

The pcc mistake happened for two reasons. The directions for the pcc are kind of confusing (at least in india). There are two different pccs that are required - one from the passport office and one from the police (the district police). Sona didn't know anything about this process so she was getting help from a ticket agent (bascially a travel agen); they tend to be experts on what is needed in order to travel to differnet countries so besides selling you tickets they also sell their services in order to get you ready.

The travel agent that was working with her got her the passport clearance and that involved the local police of her town. At which point he told her that she was done with both of her pccs. He assumed that since the local police had also given a written document...that meant that both the passport and the police parts were done. After which Sona never bothered to read that the 2nd pcc was suppose to come from the district police not the local police.

The fact is that in India there are two pccs required.
pcc-1 One is from the passport office where the local police also plays a part.
pcc-2 Second is from the district police and even in that case the local town police plays a role.

So in both cases the local police plays a part.

After the interview, the counselor told her that she needs to send in the pcc within one year to get her visa. So, now all they need is a valid pcc and they will ship her the visa.

Sona promptly got back to her city and started working on her pcc. The district police managed to do it really really fast in 2 days time and got it back to her. Now as of last week wednesday the embassy has gotten all they need.

I suspect that her visa will reach by the end of next week :-)
So, all did go fine and I just wanted to wait to post until she had it. But I also knew that all of you would be wondering as to what happened.

So there it is. I will write a even fuller explanation later on and talk to about the process inside the embassy and the questions asked and all that.

My wife's visa was issued from Mumbai and I re-call either packet3 or
4 had a paper stating that PCC is needed from the local police and
regional.
