you hit the nail on the head. BCIS people generally gather around the water
cooler and gossip about soap operas these days...

Unless you're just kidding, such generalization only shows your ignorance
and irresponsibility.
I don't work for BCIS but I would't be so reckless to make such a general
comment about the people who work there.

How do you explain dates not moving forward then? I-130 preference class has
not moved up even ONE DAY in the last one year...how about the OP's comment on
his application?

However to be fair, I would sling the same mud at Congress as well. They share
the label of Incompetent Boob as much as anybody in BCIS...

That's still the fallout from the temporary re-enactment of INA 245(i) (until
April 30, 2001).

It is known that INS was the most dysfunctional government agency. It remains
to be seen if the split into BCIS and BCBP improves the state of affairs.
In their defense, though, it is also known that they are understaffed and
underfunded.

Indeed, our local BCIS office in Tampa went from being a bustling,
overloaded mess to what is now virtually, pathetically, nonfunctional.

For one-and-1/2 years I'm waiting on the I-485's for my wife and
stepson. Consider that at the time of filing (given their existing work
load), they estimated about 8-10 months. They failed to meet that. Ever
since, they have periodically, perhaps routinely, projected
ever-increasing processing times! I was told 10, then 14, then 18, and
now 24 months! Zero accountability I guess.

What happened? I heard that the outgoing director put through a new
appointment system that essentially closes the door on applicants.
Total throughput is just a trickle as productivity has been vastly
minimized. They then spit out excuses about "increased workload . . .
background checks . . 9/11", etc.

Before, you waited in a long line for hours and eventually got served
that day. Inside, six windows handled all they could 'til closing.
Now, entry is refused except to the few who have appointments. You get
one by calling a number which is available only Tues-Thurs for 4
hours/day. It is so overloaded you could call hundreds of times/day and
...well, forget it. Even my mailed request was refused. It took me one
month to get in. Inside, it was now mostly empty with only two windows
active (eventually more trickled in that morning).

"Understaffed and underfunded"?? Hardly. Hopefully, pressure will
increase and soon lead to the essential overhaul or revamping of this
system - which is currently failing.

Good Luck,
Michael
