Apparently Public health in Toronto hasn't released them yet. I called into my pharmacy on the way home and they said around the week of the 15th

This years flu vaccine contains:
  • A/Michigan/45/2015 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus
  • A/Singapore/INFIMH-16-0019/2016 (H3N2)-like virus
  • B/Colorado/06/2017-like virus
  • B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus (in quadrivalent vaccines only)
The A/Singapore and B/Colorado strains were not contained in the 2017/18 season vaccine.

Looks like end of October for freebies, seems some pharmacies do have their own stock, but have to pay for those, not everyone in BC qualifies for free shots, so pharmacies bring in their own supply to sell.

Stepdaughter got hers today and as usual her arm is absolute agony for a day or two. Like frozen shoulder.

With respect thats like saying: "Never worn a seatbelt. Never had an accident that needed one". Except that not wearing a seatbelt only risks you. Not having a flu vaccination risks the population as a whole, not just the individual. Herd immunity and all that.

Flu jab rollouts here start Oct 22nd. The provincial govt in their infinite wisdom has stopped paying doctors to give them in preference to public clinics. That's fair does as a better application of resource but if you can't get to a clinic then you have little alternative but to pay for one through a pharmacy (who are able to give them as well.). Some employers - mine being one of them - hold vaccination clinics at work. (& we're not in the healthcare field). With a daughter who's medical history makes her susceptible to respiratory infections and a wife who is a teacher, getting the flu shot isn't optional in this house.

I’m immune-suppressed so not getting an annual flu jab would be a risky decision. Many years ago I had flu and recall asking for death, as the misery wasn’t worth the living for. The problem with the flu shot is there’s no way of knowing it it prevented one from getting the dreadful condition. I guess it’s the same with the mountain of medications I absorb every morning and evening.

The only clinics I heard about doing them here were for the H1N1 a few years back. I remember overhearing some seniors preferring to get them done at a local pharmacy with the suggestion it was cheaper/more convenient than going somewhere with parking fees. But here, that would only be the hospital who, as far as I know, only do them for staff and other specific groups in the case of H1N1.

With a daughter who's medical history makes her susceptible to respiratory infections and a wife who is a teacher, getting the flu shot isn't optional in this house.
My wife had a damaged immune system and was susceptible, so same here. Because of her treatment there were limited windows in which the flu jab could be done so she was particularly vulnerable most of the time. I can't tell you how angry I got at people not considering that they could pass it on, as you mention.

Most in BC seem to go to clinics and pharmacies.

The province distributes the free vaccine for those who are covered to pharmacies so its pretty easy to get one with no need to see a doctor.

The pharmacies also bring in their own vaccine supply to sell to those not covered.
