Potential award winning thread. I still refer to days as having no adult supervision.

That's mighty old for a baby.

I was fired for parking on the grass. I had not, in fact, parked on the grass. We had been in Canada for fourteen weeks and my wife had just said that she was pregnant. We had a combined net worth of about negative two thousand pounds. It seemed to me that our future depended on me.

I used to think that it would be when I owned my own washing machine instead of going to the laundrette but you know when I got that machine I just didn't feel any different

In my case it was 21 when I became a parent.

I reverted - or moved on, however one chooses to view it - 18 years later.

I was 'responsible' at quite an early age - had a flat share at 19 - but still felt young even at 21

I know that buying my house made a difference at 27 but there was a big step a few years earlier.

I was deputising for the first time (a two week stint) in place of the manager of the (then) DSS caller office, responsible for 7 staff and the 150 or so daily callers.

One of the rooming houses with scores of residents had a fire and word reached me of destroyed belongings including money so there were going to be loads of urgent applications for money and clothing.

I went off to see the office manager for advice.

"Do what you think is right" he said.

I have a theory that by 27 you have experienced a lot of what life has to throw at you and things kind of go into a repeat on most issues.

That being said I've still not bought a house or had children. I could see the latter making someone pull up their socks rather sharpish.

At 21 I had left uni and could drive so I guess I was adulted.

I have never felt less like an adult than I did when I took my eldest home from the hospital. It was difficult to believe they were just letting me take him. I also am incapable of feeling like an adult during parent teacher interviews, even when the teacher is clearly well over a decade younger than me.

I felt myself look round for a 'grown-up' when my oven element went up in smoke just now. Fortunately Google helps inform me what actual adults should do in these situations, and I just play along.

Individuals' experience of parenting seems to be very different based on when they start.

What is it they say...if you're too loud it's too old. Something like that anyway.

If that’s the case then I’m an adult.

That singer known as ‘the weekend’, I’d never even heard of him until that H&M PR fisaco happened a couple of weeks back.

Then I heard his music and thought this is awful and it’s only for teenage girls. Then one of my girlfriends who turned 30 last year says she loves him and his music...

When I was 19 and went to college in France, barely being able to speak French. The first night I realised that I wasn't going to eat unless I sorted it for myself.
