Default Westjet, Air Canada or BA

If all 3 of the airlines in the title were within $50 of each other price wise is one generally better then the other?

All are non stop.

I have never flown on 2 of the 3 and only WS once.

WS uses a 767-300 with 2-3-2 seating layout which is appealing.

AC is a 777 with a 3-4-3 layout I think.

BA is A380 with a 3-4-3 layout I believe.

I personally like either an A380 or 777, but I guess it depends on how long the flight is. A380 is not great for sleeping leaning against the outside, but it is good for roominess. I prefer a window seat so that probably makes a difference.

I have had good service on AC but not flown the others. My sister likes WS though.

AC operates 772 and 773, each being somewhat different. I would still take the 380 in preference. Still have a soft spot for the Speedbird. Still get well looked after on BA. West Jet don't even come in the running for me.

I've used WJ for short haul an it was fine. Not sure I'd fancy long haul though.

BA and AC are both good at long haul (very different to their short haul flights). For the sake of $50 I'd probably choose AC, so I can get the points, which I accumulate and then use to buy gas cards for my son.

WJ's 767's are older & have had spares/reliability issues in the past years when the launched their transatlantic service. Note I'm not suggesting that they are unsafe, rather than WJ have experienced maintenance issues due to the age of the planes (allegedly) which have led to delays. 2-3-2 is nice though.

I've flown WJ transatlantic on a B737 on a 4.5-5.5hr flight and it was fine. At T-24 you can purchase the plus seats for $100 or less if they are still available. That's a good deal IMHO on a longer flight.

AC have two 777 config's as Aviator notes. The HD config has 398 economy seats while the original config has 336. I would avoid travelling on the HD if I possibly could. AC get a lot of flak but I've generally had good service from them on the routes I travel.

Never flown an A380, nor BA long haul in years. BA still trades on the mystique of being Britains flag carrier but I believe the product is a lot less good than it was. That being said, I'd fly with them if price/timing/route were optimal.

I'd go with Air Canada or BA, because I find the seating has slightly more space ( unless its AC rouge )

west jet for short haul is fine but the seat pitch is really small

I haven't flown Westjet long-haul. BA and AC are much of a muchness - in my case, get on board, open a book, fall asleep, wake up to eat, fall asleep again, wake up for landing. The airline or the aircraft doesn't make much of a difference: as long as the person sitting next to me isn't too smelly I'm good to go.

If flying into Heathrow and renting a car I'd go for BA as the Avis pickup is in the short term carpark at T5 rather than a shuttle ride away, but that's a pretty minor point of difference. Otherwise it'd probably be AC as I have an Aeroplan card somewhere.

A380 (If you are ok to waiting a little bit longer for your food and for your trays to be picked up afterwards. Cuz the damn thing is just so big which makes the crew take much longer than the usual wide bodies long haul aircraft to sere you).

AC or BA. If there's little difference in price. You don't have to pay for extras on board.
If there are delays or cancellations then BA ans AC have more alternatives.
Depending on where You're flying to they might use different terminals or even airports and that might influence your decision

Would also depend which cabin one was traveling in. Many airline employees get concessionary travel and cabin upgrades. BA upper Business and First are far superior to AC.

I see all three as much of a muchness. I lean towards AC or WS because I have points, I don't bother with BA as I only fly them once a year.

Flew Westjet to Gatwick last year and it was every bit as good as BA/ AC, I just packed snacks for the flight and we took water bottles.

I need to get off my ass and book flights for this summer. I'm kind of hoping that Westjet comes out on top. So there's that.

Good point but whether luggage is included or how much it costs if it's not is a factor of fare class booked on any carrier. Important to look at total costs through & include luggage.
