A very worrying development in Alberta

Yikes.
The bit about staking out Mosques makes me feel very queasy.
They're clearly violating the Unlawful Drilling Act (an enactment prior to Confederation, no less) so I see collars being felt in the near future. Assuming the RCMP can blow the dust off that section of the criminal code.

Bet they are all shit drivers too, why does Calgary have such awful drivers.......I get road rage almost every day, I take it personally as I am also a road user and I expect to be involved in some accident as it is all to frequent to see the appalling driving here.

Yeah I think bad driving is slightly less on the worry scale than a heavily armed militia staking out Mosques.
But I was just having that conversation today, I think it's a result of the crappy road system in Calgary, I always notice in Edmonton there are far less people honking horns and getting angry. Of course a sample size of one is highly representative.
Why road engineers in Calgary are so hopeless is beyond me, and it's not just old roads, look at where the NE and SE ring roads meet, why is the NE ring road two lanes and the SE ring road three lanes?

I called this years ago, ok not exactly the printed Tee shirts and organised vigilante groups, but revenge attacks like the guy in the UK
It will only get worse IMO nothing good will come from any of this on both sides

Good to have them out in the open, on camera, where they can be identified.

Like much that's considered newsworthy, editors take no rational view of how 'news items' are dealt with, instead they pander to cheap sensational and nonsensical comment rather than providing intelligent and factual reporting.
One result is an intensification of hatred for minorities in groups of individuals who find militaristic activities exciting and they find solace in each other's company in the distorted belief that they are doing the public a service even when the opposite is demonstrated.
You might ask yourselves the question "Why don't these people seek to protect the public from real dangers?"
Instead of mounting guard over mosques why, for example, don't they mount guard outside pubs to stop drunks getting into cars? Why not do something more useful? Or is it just too enjoyable knowing that other people are afraid of them and their guns?
Terrorist activities are apalling, but the BBC, CNN etc have a responsibility to act responsibly and 24 hour coverage of a single incident to the exclusion of everything else only serves to provide an unbalanced view of events and reinforce dangerous attitudes in the weak minded.

They are just a bunch of deluded bikers that are conjuring up a pseudo patriotic rationale for their violent dreams.
Terrorism coverage has become a kind of entertainment, as you say, and that does increase the general paranoia.

By mounting a guard over Mosques, are they protecting the Muslim congregation against any copy cat attacks by would be Christian fundamentalists?
