Errr,, I don't think you've quite captured the essence of kerfuffle with that.

I’d go with “brouhaha” if translation for public consumption, “quel bordel” in speech or colloquial writing. But then there’s “tohu-bohu”... .

Lol, yes I have. But bordel doesn't just mean what it literally means... in more familiar french it also means mess, disorganization...kerfuffle...

“Bordel” or “quel bordel”, in my experience runs the gamut from:

- mess/what a mess etc

To

- total F**k up etc.

It’s also, again in my experience, rather more common in French French than in Canadian or Quebecois French. I don’t associate it with military slang.

.

In “bon québécois”, we’d probably use “f**ke/f**ker as a verb/derivatives thereof...

I need to learn more of those differences. Communication is not a problem what so ever with the Québécois but it would be nice to be able to swear and be understood. Lol

The father in law thought nothing of his grandkids using the f word but he didn't like them saying Tabarnak and other stuff.

It's the church; same thing in Mexico. A sure fight-starter is a slander against the virgin.
