WHO ‘rethinking’ naming Robert Mugabe as goodwill ambassador

Decision will be re-evaluated after appointment of Zimbabwean despot provokes global anger.

A UK government spokesman said the WHO decision was at odds with US and EU sanctions against Mugabe. “Although Mugabe will not have an executive role, his appointment risks overshadowing the work undertaken globally by the WHO on non-communicable diseases,” he said.

The US state department said: “This appointment clearly contradicts the United Nations ideals of respect for human rights and human dignity.”

And the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, said he thought Mugabe’s appointment “was a bad April Fool’s joke”.
Really makes you wonder how it happened in the first place. I mean, they produce all these reports and all anyone has to do is ignore them saying "yes but look what they did with Mugabe."

That sounds as though they had no idea the world and his wife would think it a bad idea. Did they not know who or what the evil shite is?

Maybe Trudeau was on the right track. Some low grade official in the WHO office hadn't been tearing off the pages on the wall calendar and had left March there and then they thought it would be a good April fool joke.

We should have a pool on the first day he says "uppity".
This.

Exactly. He likes to throw red meat to his rabid base - the "racism r'us" group who seem to also identify themselves invariably as Christians

Is Mueller Trump's nemesis?

The problem Trump has is that Mueller is like that pile of crap you trod in. Sure you can scrape it off but it'll stick and the odour just won't go away. Mueller is untouchable and Trump doesn't know what Mueller knows but suspects what he might get to know and it's something that Twitter won't make go away.

Forget House of Cards, this one will run and run and I just gotta keep this thread going.

Mueller flipped one of the guys - George P

Hence, Trump is now denoucing George P as a lowlife who is probably in cahoots with the Democrats

You see, this shilling and the absurd antics by Trump is to be expected by a low class thug perhaps, but what genuinely shocks me, is how the Republican base seem to believe in it 110%

I sometimes go to Fox just to see how they present the news, and they spin and completely fabricate the facts. It's disgusting.

Yet the Republican base seem to lap it up completely - what world is this?

Apparently the Tump fellow has an 89% approval rating amongst Republicans.

I'm honestly gobsmacked, and presumably if Tump ever gets indicted, he will incite the (what % of Americans) to civil war because it's all Hillary and Obama's fault!!!

Trump will be president for the next 3.5 years, and unfortunately the TV, newspapers and internet will keep this Russia story going for as long as he is in the Whitehouse. I am sick and tired of hearing about it.

Nearer the time I will put a bet on him becoming President for a 2nd term, it's a bit early yet, but after the 2016 election, who knows...

It's kind of relevant that an effective enemy of the USA helped instill their current President...but agree he will probably stay for the remainder of this term.

His angry base love him, he channels their worse side quite well.

Would the Russians have been able to anything if the evidence wasn't available to enable them to do so?

what evidence? What is it that you are alleging the Russians did? Is this a reference to the DNC email leak? I was not aware that that had been conclusively tied to Russia - do you know something we don't?

All we know for certain at this stage is that a number of Russian operatives, who may or may not have been on the state payroll, ran Facebook accounts that served pro-Trump, anti-Clinton ads to millions of Americans. This we know because the accounts have since been suspended for breaching the terms & conditions of service. There is as yet no firm indication that Trump or his campaign staff was involved in this process.

Anything else is what the Mueller investigation is trying to fathom out, isn't it?

OK

I haven't been following this in any great detail, so I will defer to your greater knowledge but I thought that the issue was around who from the Trump administration met with whom in an attempt to uncover dirt on Clinton.

If they were not linked to the leak of the emails, so be it. From what Clinton appears to have said, she blames that for her loss.

If people are willing to believe "facts" without seeing the evidence, that is a matter for them.
