Travelling from Canada to Mexico on holiday with less than 6 months on passport?
 

As I`m off work for a couple of weeks I had an idea that I might pick up a last minute deal somewhere, being the time of year that it is its gonna be somewhere in the Caribbean

A quick search throws up options for Cuba and Mexico. I`m leaning towards Mexico as I`ve been there before and the deals seem better (a few have windsurfing etc included which I`ve always wanted to try - I`m curious to hear from anyone who's done something along these lines)

I know I`ve heard it somewhere before that you should have 6 months left on your passport before heading to far off places, problem is my wife would have just under this amount if we were to book this trip (5.5 months left by my calculations)

Is this an issue? I have had a look around on the net but opinions are all over the place on the matter (I have also emailed the travel provider we would be booking with but no response yet)

If its an issue does destination matter? Or is this a universal rule?

We are both permanent residents with British passports

Suffice to say she will be getting a new passport but we won't have it before next week

Passport validity

Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay in Mexico.

Sounds like we should be good?

Have fun! Generally I've found it an issue if it's 3 months or less, or duration of stay.
