They say :

Please be aware that Leaf Only cannot be responsible for duties, taxes, or any other charges imposed by the Country of Canada or shipping carriers. As we were told by border officials published legislation, there is a $1.572 / kilo ($0.72 / LB) duty on raw leaf tobacco. We were also told that there may also be 8% - 13% tax on the item total depending on your province that is standard on all imports - even non-tobacco items, as well as a $16 manifest charge that customs may or may not impose.

1.50 per kilo of tobacco !

In the coffee shop last week I sat next to a table of people who were buying and selling meth. I couldn't gauge the price relative to weed because I don't know how much is needed to get a zit or to make a tooth fall out. What shocked me was that it's a metric drug. Weed is obviously less corrupting to the brain as it comes in good old ounces (or fractions thereof).

Quite an apt spelling for your neck of the woods surely Novo? For those of your neighbours still addicted to their 'tabs' anyway.

You really do meet the Guelph underbelly. Are you sure you weren't at a fried chicken place in Alberquerque.

I really dont get the problem. We did the heisenberg process as students - As a process its about orange at one stage but imho all these illegal drugs are nasty things to actually ingest..

If you are feeling lucky, the most dangerous thing we did imho was acetone peroxide in tiny quantities, You really have to be deranged to make this properly out of a proper lab.

For safe fun i recommend aluminium and iron oxide powders with a hot fuse of magnesium strip. This is a thermite reaction - it’ll burn clean through a car engine, used to weld railway tracks, impressive.

Two good ways to get deported.
It's not illegal to bring tobacco over the border provided you declare it and it's within your personal allowance.

I used to buy grams back in the 80s. Ounces are more for dividing up to sell or for daily smokers. Like a lot of things in Canada weed is both metric and imperial.

When I quit a 50g pouch of No.7 and papers cost $10, and I think it's over twice that now. That used to last me about 2 weeks, and I always claimed that to be moderate use. However, when I went out to the trailer and saw stacks of empty pouches it was apparent that I'd smoked a lot of tobacco. The only cheap legal way I can think of (other than growing your own, as mentioned) is to have a friend who travels back and forth across the border frequently and stays long enough to bring back duty free tobacco, and who is willing to bring it for you.

Good post. Vaping is preferable to regular cigarettes; I know that the jury is still out on certain aspects, but the consensus of opinion is that it is far less of a health risk.

This coming from an almost 3 year vaping convert.

Guelph has the county courthouse and the county dole office. That's why there are so many lawyers and harm reduction centres and clients of both. My understanding is that, locally, the place for meth is somewhere called Palmerston. Palmerston looks fine from the car but then so does Compton.

In the era of living with a stoner (ended early 2000s), weed came in ounces and hash in grams. We bought weed by the quarter in Houston, Amsterdam, in Disneyworld, San Francisco, Ottawa, Cincinnati, London, Malaysia, Germany, Paris, back of beyond Newfoundland, Florida Keys, I don't remember where else but basically everywhere we went. I guess that, if you ask in imperial, they'll sell in imperial.

I subsequently bought a one kilogram brick of pressed hydroponic in San Diego for the drive to Toronto. It has suffered some shrinkage by the time we got to Port Huron. We mailed it across the border and, at the post office, it had transformed to 2lbs imperial. Magic stuff I tell you!

My suggestion of buying a copy of Golden Virginia seems to have been lost.
