Isn't that difficult to do? I can't say I know the words but presumably they reference gendered objects at some point and the conjugations will get all buggered up. Are they going to replace any les or las with mumbles?

I didn't bother learning the new words, or the French before, so this isn't going to hurt much.

Might take a bit of getting used to. Im sure after a 6 month grace period they will set up a Govt entity/department to enforce that the correct words are sung and hire the Anthem Police to issue on the spot fines at sporting and other such events where it is sung. Any suggestions on what the ticket should cost and will it increase if a repeat offender?

Read of a Brit whose wife, a Canadian, required him to sing O Canada if he wanted to get lucky. Needless to say, he soon became word perfect....

Why would it be a big issue for the ladies its not like they would suddenly stand to attention and sing along and interrupting them from getting you a beer from the fridge and ensuring the wings aren't overcooked.

Well some women are so happy now, and jelious too, “God Save Our Gracious person of non discript gender” is next !!

Chantal Petitclerc, a former Paralympian who has been awarded 14 gold medals for wheelchair racing, said she was "jealous" of those athletes headed to Pyeongchang for the winter games, as they will finally be able to sing a gender neutral anthem — an option that wasn't open to her when she competed internationally in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Another person who gender I will keep quiete said

"This may be small, it's about two words, but it's huge ... we can now sing it with pride knowing the law will support us in terms of the language. I'm proud to be part of the group that made this happen."

English changes "thy sons" to "of us". French need change nothing.

I guess now they are working on changing the Criminal Code Of Canada to either include both genders or making that gender neutral

Anybody see anything wrong with this offence as it currently stands?
Assault

265 (1) A person commits an assault when

(a) without the consent of another person, he applies force intentionally to that other person, directly or indirectly;

(b) he attempts or threatens, by an act or a gesture, to apply force to another person, if he has, or causes that other person to believe on reasonable grounds that he has, present ability to effect his purpose; or

(c) while openly wearing or carrying a weapon or an imitation thereof, he accosts or impedes another person or begs.

Then it would seem that the new version is more inclusive and equally singable as the old. Changing it seems like a small good thing.

Wow that’s so wrong, why are males singled out in this way, totally out of order and should be changed immediately

Contact your MP and get them to introduce a private members bill in the HOC. There again there will be some logical explanation that the word he is not gender specific and is meant to include both sexes much like the King James Bible uses a male noun or pronoun. So therefore they will say no change is needed.

So if thats the case then why change in all thy sons command couldn't that be interpreted the same way?
