Re: Remember When ...
........you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
Blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
Rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
Sorry, couldn't resist! 😎

Remember when...
You would go round and knock on your mates door instead of text FB etc
Getting battered in the park or beach on a Friday night - don't see much of that here. Is that the same in the UK?
I remember my first year at college 1998. 24 of us in the class 2 had a mobile phone. By the end of the second year everyone had one!

Television? Luxury! We only had a one valve radio with a broken tuner and worn out speaker. Them were the days.

Re: Remember When ...
Growing up in San Diego in the 80's we were the meth capital of North America for much of the decade, so I suppose many were likely making it...

Re: Remember When ...
Windows all taped-up to prevent bomb blast. Spam, cod-liver oil and tripe. Anderson shelters in the dug-out garden. Air-raid sirens and the all-clear. Ration books. Metal railings removed. No street lamps.
And then it was over....the joy of neighbors and community getting together to celebrate. A returning soldier with a black banana. The street-lamp gas-lighter with trailing kids. Edible food.
But the fun of having any childhood.....all gone!
