No car but later on Dad did get a van for his work.

I expect someone played it, was it in a sing-song mode or more of a hoity toity way? To put that in physical terms, was the lid over the keys still there and, if so, was it padlocked open? If no lid, what did people sing?

I remember now that, not only did we get get Knees Up Muvver Brown but also My Old Man (a cautionary tale of sexual exploitation of great pertinence these days).

My parents had 'evenings' where each of them and friends would take it in turns to sing, accompanied by dad on piano.

My mum used to pronounce it pee-ah-no as it sounded posher.

We didn't indulge in southern cockney style sing songs or any communal singing at all. No one played the piano it just stood forlornly all alone in the hallway waiting for a passing virtuoso to tickle its ivory. It had a sad life.

There was room in the hallway?

This sort of hallway?

Any reason why it wasn't in the ballroom?

Ouch. Root canals suck mouth with pain in the mouth and wallet pain....

I was a bit down when I made the initial post as due to US holidays next week, we got our hours cut at work without advanced notice, well we got a weeks notice so creating a hardship for many now.

I had the impression your hours had increased so does this new cut put them back to what they were?

Could it be a seasonal thing?

More a 'Thanksgiving' thing I suspect. What ever it is, getting less hours causes some real issues at times. My hours have gone down by just over a third of late, so I totally understand.

My sympathies. The good news is that it's a finite inconvenience and nothing to break a sweat over. The pain will abate and it's only money

Me, not him
At least I can afford it, plus it's less than private dental coverage would have cost over my time here.

A combo of Ibuprofen/Acetaminophen is doing the trick in the meantime. I imagine discomfort might peak for a day or so after but I'm anticipating a big reduction overall when the first is done
