Race for Toronto Mayor
With the Scottish vote exitment over now, it's time for Toronto to get politically exited about the race for Mayor.
My $ is on a Ford nation clean sweep.
I don't actually live in Toronto but I do spend almost every day driving and parked up sat around the place, with all the light rail ideas subway is the way to go IMO.
Also with the crazy bike loving Chow in the running I would like car guy Doug Ford to win.

neither do most of the people who will inevitably vote for him. And this is how those of us who actually live downtown are going to get stuck with him

I think you have to live there to vote, when I lived in Scarborough that was classed as Tronto. Ajax is another world.

So those who actually live down town I take it Ford is not the pick of the day?
But who is ?

Re: Race for Toronto Mayor
I am going with "anyone who isn't ford"
seriously my voting plan is to vote for whoever isn't him.
out of who is left , there isn't really any one person who I particularly feel will do a decent job

Re: Race for Toronto Mayor
My prediction is that Rob will win in Ward 2, Ford support is just way too strong there.... then I'm going with Tory to win in Toronto.
Fingers crossed.

Re: Race for Toronto Mayor
Providing he does not repeat a similar disasterous policy error of judgement ( making a major part of his platform back in the 2007 Provincial election proposing to extend funding to religious schools which handed the election on a plate to 'McGuilty') I would tend to agree. For me, anyone who even considered such a policy as being viable, demonstrates poor judgement....
Time will tell as to how damaging this bit of 'history' may be to his chances in his current enterprise.

Re: Race for Toronto Mayor
My biggest issue with the mayoralty race in Toronto is that it takes longer than gestating a baby! We can pick federal and provincial governments in just a few weeks but Toronto needs most of a year to pick a mayor? Why is that? What is so wrong with Toronto voters that they cannot make up their minds in a reasonable amount of time?

Re: Race for Toronto Mayor
I'd go wider than the core. I think Toronto extends to the 401, 427, DVP and the lake but the Fords are from Etobicoke; that's not Toronto by any standard.

Re: Race for Toronto Mayor
Doesn't your definition of Toronto include most of Etobikoke, including a big chunk of Ward 2? Genuine question, since I don't know the area well. The only part of Toronto I've ever been to is Mississauga...
