Oakville next week

I'm in Oakvikle for two weeks on a course and have the evenings free. Is anyone around to meet up for coffee? Wine? Food even? I don't have transport but I'm near Lakeshore and Wilson.

We'll definitely have to sort something out, Bats. Plenty of coffee, wine and eateries nearby, from the hipster-central quinoa-and-kale cafes on Kerr St, to more mainstream bars a handful of blocks east on Lakeshore in the downtown bit - although there's a bit of a detour to get there right now as there are bridge works on Lakeshore and the road is closed.

Thursday and Friday evenings probably best for me for the next couple of weeks - any other Oakville folks around?

ETA: are you in Oakville now, or next week and the week after? Second-guessing your post now...

I'm here now until the 10th. Classes finish around 4.00, 4.30.
I'd be quite keen on a Works burger but am open to suggestions.

Me too! I'll meet up with you.

As you're there for two weeks can we make it the 2nd week as life is crazy for a few more days :)

Coriander Green isn't bad for a curry, but can be a little pricey and tad flashy.

Never tried "The Works" meant to be good from what I've heard.

Bru is a pretty good bar type place that I've been to a couple of times and liked.

I should be around next week (apart from Friday).

There's a Works burger in Guelph, we go there for lunch quite often. The cradles among us compete to see who can eat the most "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" burgers in a row. I've never stayed until the end of the eating but I've seen them each eat six. Lunch comes with an unlimited supply of fries which you likely don't need after multiple burgers. As fast food places go, it's a good one.

Apparently there are 2 in Hamilton - I might have to give them a try!

:)

I am stuck in a Blues Burger rut. I very much like the Blues Burger, and may well have one in an hour, but there are lots of other attractive choices and I should be more adventurous.

I have just seen the Malibu Meltdown consumed. Next time I'm going to try one of those.

My 14-year-old was going to have the sk8er boi (peanut butter, cheese and bacon) when he went with a friend last week, but when he got home he reported that there was a special on offer - a Reese's burger, which substituted chocolate for the cheese: so peanut butter, chocolate and bacon toppings. Apparently it was delicious but very filling, which coming from a teenaged boy is praise indeed!

I'm relieved I didn't witness this event. I may not have been able to resist having a bite...

That place looks brilliant. They've even got an onion ring tower.

Top onion ring on the tower is the smallest so you need to figure out how many rings are on the tower and how many are in your group so you don't end up eating the smallest.

The burgers look small but are very filling and kind of spendy.
