Karma Etiquette

Karma Etiquette
I have been a member of BE for a while now but this Karma lark still has me a little confused. I know why it is sent and why it is received but I am not sure what to do when I get it. Do I reply to the person by PM and thank them for sending it or is no reply necessary?
I only ask because I have never replied to any since being a member and it has finally dawned on me that I may be inadvertently offending people by not thanking them for sending it. If a reply should be forthcoming I hereby give a blanket apology to all those I have ignored. If no reply is necessary I guess I should still take the opportunity to say thanks anyway.
Can someone provide a lesson in Karma Etiquette please.

My gran used to say a thank you was polite, but i think for karma its taking it to extreme. Spread the joy though.

Re: Karma Etiquette
I dont see why? Ive been posting here a looooooooong time and its still gratifying to get a little recognition that something I posted was usefull or appreciated. And it serves a purpose of stopping the threads getting clogged up with lots of otherwise content free "good point" or "I agree" or "LOL!" type posts.

Re: Karma Etiquette
Sorry...misread your first post...yes thank yous for karma is a bit extreme, even for canadians.

Re: Karma Etiquette
Wow! I was brought up to say thank you when given a compliment and just wasn't sure whether it was appropriate to do so when someone has taken the time to point out I have been helpful in some way by sending me Karma and a comment.
Didn't realise that this is...considered... extreme...or too polite, even for canadians. It does amaze me however that even the most innocuous of topics will always attract sarcastic comments from people who seem to have nothing better to do than introduce pointless negativity.
Guess that is just the 'britishness' in some of the people who frequent BE, one of those 'special' traits that really annoy me.
Yet another thread started with the best of intentions that has ended up leaving an unnecessary sour taste. I got more than one lesson in the end but thanks anyway to those of you who gave the light hearted responses.

Re: Karma Etiquette
My comment ended with a smiling and a few people 'got' my sense of humour in it and kindly obliged with said karma (thank you folks).
If if was me that left the sour taste then I apologise but I don't quite see how
