Re: Ice Ice Baby
Is it me or is Canada losing its hardened edge to inclement weather.....its like like living back in the UK, when eveyone starts getting terrified that they will be snowed in, and over prepare, and all that follows is an inch of slush.
Seems everyone here has started to get a bit over reactive of late...this is Canada!! not the UK! what next......grocery stores selling out of bread and milk!? lol
Maybe its because we had a non event winter this year with hardly any snow.

Seriously, here in Ottawa and all over southern Ontario I see people walking to their cars and back and on sidewalks wearing running shoes all through the winter. And they wonder why they don't want to head out in the winter !!!! Teenage kids walk to school in -25 here in Ottawa w/o hats, thin gloves on, thin coats on and running shoes. Where do they think we are...Newcastle City Centre on an alcohol fuelled Daily Mail sidebar of shame????
When people just rush out to the car w/o the proper clothes for the winter there is little surprise that people go into panic mode at the merest 5 cm of snow/slush/snizzle.

Re: Ice Ice Baby
Suppose I may never experience these ice storms. Well havent yet but they are likely quite rare here.
Lol
As for winter clothes, no need for me. I am always too warm. Its not until minus teens the winter coat comes out. 4 straight winters now not needing it.
Here we are already in t shirt weather, for me anyhow. Locals still wear jackets and such.

I've found the opposite to be true. Slightest whiff of cold weather and the entire city is clad in Canada goose jackets

Yes. I can agree with that too The Canadian populace is pretty polarized....they are either wrapped up like a steamed puddings, or absolutely insulation free. Likewise, at least here, when the sun finally peeks out, girls..and women, pop every available bit of skin out in the very skimpiest of outfits. My first years here, I thought they were strange...now I'm right there with them....when that sun comes
