I don't like peanut butter but marmite works well with hummus in a sandwich.
The U.K. version still is banned. The stuff you buy here is without vitamin B12. I swear it tastes different too but that's probably imagination.

Oi'm beginning to feel a bit like Jesse from the hilarious series 'The Fast Show' - 'This week oi've mostly been eating Marmite.'
With huge thanks to Oakvillain, I made up a batch of marmite butter earlier this afternoon, and supper this evening consisted of one peanut butter sandwich (karma Souvy), and one of cheddar (karma MillieF and mikelincs).
Moi cheddar bain't be come from Zummerzet, so I were thinking it be best to pimp with Colman's mustard. Then my roots kicked in, so substituted just a teensy spread of salad cream across the cheddar instead. Yes!
Both yummy, thanks all!
Apologies, cross threading now : @ BristolUK, back on the ice-cream thing. The Korma ice cream experiment was well worth it, the Tikka Masala ice cream was somewhat disappointing, reckon I just messed up on the ratio.

I think I'd rather try Poutine again than anything vaguely curry with ice cream

Listen chaps, you really need to try oude gouda. Thats aged gouda. Frankly the crack cocaine of welsh rarebit toppings, if you think you like cheese on toast, whether its with marmite, ketchup, worcester sauce, kimchi or nam plah, [thai fermented fish sauce] you need to try the dutch stuff.. that is all.

Sod academia, there's no substitute for practical experience
Bats' hummus idea sounds interesting, I would likely need to revisit my butter/marmite ratio though...
I shall have to put this on hold for a bit, as we're heading off tomorrow 'up north' for another week in the land of moules + frites, currywurst, proper beer and the absolutely top grill-able cheeses

However, an important question re cheese on toast. Onion, yes or no, if yes, spring onion, white, red or the hard arse yellow stuff? Is garlic an option?

My top weekend destination, brugge, chocolate, beer and frites with any sort of pornographic sauce you can think of. Whats not to love.

Can i put in a shout for ghent, its like bruge, but more hardcore, the european museum of medieval torture, the dulle e grete real ale bar [300 varieties but they want a shoe in exchange for some of the glasses] and of course the noteable mobile home brothel park.
