Hello :)
Greetings, moosef... hang on, there's no need for that. How are you all? Hope you're all well and looking forward to the first signs of spring, like dog turds emerging from the snow.
All is well at Jings Manor, I've been working in the UK for 2.5 years now since I left Canada. Home for tea every night, just brilliant. Unfortunately these cushy jobs don't last forever and I am rejoining the ranks of those who need a passport to get to work. Not as bad as Fort McMurray this time, thankfully - just Germany. I was going to introduce myself in the Germany forum in BE but I thought that first of all I would "visit with y'all". How is life with you lot?

Re: Hello :)
Welcome back. I take it you have been watching old episodes of Auf Widersehen Pet on how to survive in Germany.

Re: Hello :)
Oddly enough I was thinking of you yesterday as you popped up in my FB feed of people-you-might-possibly-admit-to-knowing-if-you-had-a-beer-or-two-inside-you. Good to hear that things are well and that you are taking the opportunity to work in Germany before Brexit kills that kind of thing. Presumably the beer is still good in Norfolk? (it was in January last time I was over).

Re: Hello :)
Nothing has changed here, I am older but none the wiser. I'm trying to organise a trip to the UK for May but only the shopping list is at all arranged.

Re: Hello :)
Hooters put the price up on a bottle of Millstreet Organic to $6 from $5.50.
It hurts.
Other than that everything is the same.
Good to see you are alive and well. Germany a bit more sophisticated than Fort McMurray. I'm envious.

Re: Hello :)
I used to know a German. He had a beard before they were popular, so I suppose that would make him a bit of a hipster now-a-days.

Jings! Welcome back. I was thinking of you a couple of weeks ago when we were in Norfolk.

Re: Hello :)
well hello there. Bon voyage - if that's not the wrong thing to say for travel to Germany. Gute Fahrt, perhaps... gute Reise is more likely but provokes fewer schoolboy giggles

Re: Hello :)
Good to hear from you all again, I've kinda missed you all in an odd sort of way.
Didn't feel any need to come onto BE when I was in the UK, and the Germany forum seems to have as much life as... I dunno, downtown Calgary on a Monday night in January. Perhaps I'll pop back here a bit more often.
Old oilpatch pals in Calgary tell me things are pretty rough at the moment, I think I got out at exactly the right moment - more by good luck than good planning, I assure you.
Time to dig out the Sprachfuehrer and get myself ready for Currywurst und Altbier...
