In the movie industry the 'casting couch' has always been around since the start, and in the days where there were very few production companies was rife.

As mixed metaphors go, this is a particularly challenging one to visualize.

I guess my ban finally expired! No really, just living life, but the other half has been out of work for nearly a year and finding it hard to figure out what to do, so we're thinking about relocating back to the UK. So great to see so many familiar names, and I may even make it to the social next week....

That's fascinating. I suppose that's why it's referenced so many times upthread.

Do you think that Ronan Farrow being the author of the r article was a factor in the New Yorker choosing to publish?

By some accounts, NBC were too scared to publish it, but New Yorker had the balls:

I thought Kevin Spacey's statement was pretty good. None of this "if offended, I'm sorry" malarkey.

Accepts he was guilty, when it would have been really easy to have denied it, says he needs to examine his own behaviour and then comes out as living as a gay man now.

I can't believe gay activists are having a go at using this accusation as a time to come out. He made reference to many stories being written when he was trying to keep things private - so a report about him and a 14 year old boy seems quite an appropriate time to do so, if he's going to, and he's not done it in a way that overshadows the accusation at all.

As for propagating a myth about gay people being more likely to abuse kids does it really come across that way? "I'm gay so I have a desire for children?"

Every time there's a news story about an older male and an underaged girl do we assume that straight men are inclined towards children?

Obviously there are some who do believe gay men are attracted to kids and that their homosexuality is what does that, but they're idiots and bigots. They're going to say that no matter what.

The report said that decision was taken previously but they could have made the announcement another time. As much as I enjoy HOC it's hard to see how they could get more from it, and that's even without considering real White House life being more unbelievable than the fiction.
