I'll have to dig out my recipes and notes, I did a 19 week Indian cookery course in HK. The woman ran it in her tiny kitchen with 6 of us sitting on stools either helping to prepare or watching her cook and taking notes (she gave us hand written recipes).. then we'd eat it all. At the end of the course (we kept asking for more lessons, it was originaly a 10 week one, lol) we all made a dish to take to her flat, she dressed us in sari's and we had photos taken. Wish I could find it!

Happy days.

That great thing about making your own, is you know exactly what goes into it. Especially the sugar and salt content.

Giant Tiger had Lou's Peameal Bacon 800g for $3.95 so I bought 3 of them, I think that's about half price, though they weren't marked on sale. No Frills has air-chilled chickens or family-pack sausage $2/lb so I bought some of those too. I always get the Hot Italian ones; they used to have PC Original Bangers but haven't seen them in a long time.

Lucky.

I was passing Dollarama today so as a few foodie things recently got a mention I dropped in.

I bought a Thai black pepper stir fry paste and a couple of tins of 'British' rice pudding.

Some of the things in tins and jars are definitely a step up from a couple of years ago.

Also Jaffa Cookies/Biscuits Jaffa from Poland. As with Pim's, a good substitute for Jaffa Cakes. Blackcurrant flavour too.

The Keg stopped doing them a long time ago. Their surf and turf has been rubbish ever since.

That looks amazing-
Prices astronomical for some things- I dont really 'get' caviar - it has never appealed even if it wasnt so stupidly expensive.. the rest of that stuff- now that is a different matter, I would quite happily work my way down the page!

When I was a hotel porter I scored a couple of big trays of goodies after a party on the convention floor, and there was some caviar in there. I took them around to all the staff; front desk, smoke shop, shoe-shine etc, and then back into the switchboard room. I told our dear switchboard operator, Ada Digney, "Take some napkins and take a bunch, there's lots." She took some, then spotted the caviar.... "Oh Boy! Blueberries!" and before I could say anything popped one into her mouth. She spit the works all over her switchboard and shouted "Those blueberries are ROTTEN!"

I saw that there was a kelp caviar on the costco list - If they added a brussel sprout flavouring then I would have a very effective weapon for my enemies -I get that seaweed is healthy and all that but just leave it for the seals and sea otters

I have to say it does look nice I would agree-it's just that we had amazing lobster when we went on holiday to Anegada- I have never had a lobster with so much meat on it, they were cooked in old oil drums which had been cleaned out and used as simple ovens on the beach-very simple but incredibly memorable. I'm sure that coastal lobster from around these shores, particularly the Maritimes is probably great as well. I do love of seafood and was particularly impressed by that Costco website
I do see live lobster and crab in Superstore, I'm just too soft to contemplate even humanely killing a live animal. Hypocritical I know!
It sounds as if I live a champagne lifestyle… I don't, I am trying to think what to make with chicken breast tonight which isn't boring-I have a few ideas… An Italian slant I reckon..

Not such a big fan of north Atlantic lobster but I agree with you that Caribbean lobster is wonderful. When we were kids we used go diving for them in the Florida keys at Christmas and Easter.
