Re: Do you have a pointless job?
I liked it and does seem the less people do in some jobs the more they are paid and head scratcher as to why those positions exist.
I would say my job isnt pointless after all flights cant leave without being unloaded and loaded and pushed off the gate.
But at the same time in 8 hours we only work about 5 to 5.5 hours so we have a fair amount of down time where we have nothing to do.
No flights no work to be done.

My job leads directly to me getting paid every two weeks. There is absolutely nothing pointless about that!

Re: Do you have a pointless job?
One reason...lol
But it's just how the job is, if there is no flight on the ground, there isn't going to be work..
We don't have fancy break room, but when I used to work for an actual airline we had couches, TVs with cable, vending machines in our break room since we only worked 50-60% of our shift and the rest was waiting around for flights.
But when a flight is on the ground you will work really hard. And it's not easy stacking bags in small places such as belly of planes..lol

BBC - Capital - The jobs where career success means drinking at work
Drinking culture a necessity! Don't I know it. Is it the same in Toronto, Calgary, etc?

Re: Do you have a pointless job?
I guess it's not pointless as people and stuff have to go places but you got to feel for pilots. That's got to be a most mind-numbingly boring job though. Thirty years of driving back and forth, you must of prayed for a hurricane or highjacking just to relive the tedium.
