I have lived in both, and have family in both.
For me, USA hands-down, for a lot of the reasons Pulaski mentioned.
But, also, my "Canadian" part is Quebecois. For us there are a lot of issues and problems in Canada that I think are hidden or outright ignored by English Canadians (and then, of course, that's usually the part of Canada that English migrants assimilate into).
Maybe I would move back when I can have a Quebecois passport, but I doubt that I would do so even then. We would focus on the US if we were to return to that part of the world.

The tax situation isnt always better in the US.
I am better off tax wise in Canada in BC vs California.

Robin Williams once described Canada as a luxury loft apartment that sits above a really great party. The comparison flattered the United States (presumably the fun place underneath), but you can see what he meant. Canada is a soothing oasis that has space and tranquillity.
