I was 23 when we went through it. I moved here with parents when I was 17 (brother was 14) and we as a family did it at the same time.

My father, university professor PHD etc, was stumped by the judge when she asked us for our test 'what was the significance of the most recent public holiday held here in Ontario'. The test was in early June so 'Victoria Day' was the most recent holiday yet as a recent UK resident it meant nothing to my father. The judge was honestly surprised that Victoria's birthday was not celebrated in the UK.

The questions were the standard, what happened in 1867, what is a provincial/national responsibility, what role does the Governor General have, is Don Cherry an annoying Canadian etc.

[QUOTE=Partially discharged; The test was in early June so 'Victoria Day' was the most recent holiday yet as a recent UK resident it meant nothing to my father. The judge was honestly surprised that Victoria's birthday was not celebrated in the UK.
QUOTE]

Long ago, when I was small boy, there was a half day school holiday called Empire Day, which was officially celebrated on Victoria's birthday. That celebration became Commonwealth Day, celebrated now in June. The school half day holiday involved flags, bunting, parades, patriotic songs, and so forth.

The league of Empire Loyalists described what was the effective abolition of Empire Day as a national fit of self-loathing.

I found the test nerve racking experience, like being back at school. Got 100% correct in the end, but studied the book for weeks.

In the UK sent off the citizenship forms to the home office and the citizenship certificate was received through the post. That was long time ago.

No reason to be nervous. It was even easier than anything we'd tried online. Everyone finished within 10 minutes and all appeared to pass.

It's really a doddle. I did mine over a decade ago and aced it in about four minutes.

Just for fun, I did the online one a few weeks back. Pretty much aced that too but beware. There are some trick questions. Don't just scan a question, see a key word and tick the answer for the word you associate with that key word.

The time you are allowed to do the test is ample. Make the most of it and read the questions properly. It isn't a race.

You'll be fine. As mentioned you are given plenty of time, but it won't take to long to complete. Just don't try to rush the answers, if not sure of any of the answers leave it and come back to it after you answer all the other questions.

After our test everyone had to wait for their results outside the exam room. As we were the last to get our results we saw a few applicants fail or denied for insufficient documentation. That is not going to be you!

We got 100% Good Luck !

If I was the one doing it and everyone was saying how easy it was, that would make me even more nervous.

When I handed my test in, the official looked at it, asked for my PR card (which I never saw again) and told me to come back in an hour for the ceremony. The last bit is certainly not the usual way of doing things.

It's easy becUse you study for it, all the online test questions and exams are harder than the actual test. After I had completed the test it dawned on me that this was more a "Can I read English" than an actual exam.

Make sure you double check your answer sheet, the only way an English speaking applicant will fail is if they mix up the answers on the answer sheet.

You can also do it in French. You would obviously know that, having memorised the Charter as part of your thorough exam revision.
