Cotswolds
OH and I are going to a wedding in France next summer by way of England. We are not telling any other relatives or friends we will be in the UK, so we will have some time to do our own thing.
We are trying to decide between somewhere on the coast or the Cotswolds, never spent time there as adults, so where would be the best base, looking at 3 nights not a million miles from London as planning a days sightseeing without stroppy family.
Thanks

Re: Cotswolds
We would be looking for very English, whether coastal or inland lol. We will be travelling to London the night before last so we get a full day in town. Probably drop the car off at Heathrow and get a hotel there for 2 nights.

Re: Cotswolds
And crowded.
The Cotswold is a region of small towns and villages, each with their own character, but hotels may be full and pricy in the summer. The area isn't really very large, but you'll need a car to get around. You should easily be able to visit three or four villages in one day.
If you can't find a hotel, or B&B actually in the Cotswolds, then you could stay in Oxford, which is accessible from London by train, and you could be in the heart of the cotswold in 20 minutes from Oxford - literally! Because if you keep your foot down you'll be in Cheltenham in less than an hour and will have driven right across the Cotswold and out of the far side!
In stead of Oxford you could stay in Swindon, and drive only half an hour north from there into the Cotswolds.
