Default stuff I haven't tackled yet.

Hello people,
just looking for advice. I emigrated to Canada 4 years ago. It only recently occurred to me that I did not inform HMRC that I was leaving. Is there any repercussions to that? I did get a P45 when I left my job. Should I inform them now (that I left 4 years ago)?

Also, I'm not pensionable age, but I worked for 27 years in London and had a company pension. What are the processes of getting that once I reach the age of drawing a pension? Will I also be entitled to a UK government pension?

Thanks .
I miss the UK!

You can inform them any time. You will need the exact date of when you left the country so that they can calculate your final year's taxes (and issue refund if you overpaid). They will also declare you as non resident for future pension purposes.

It's a P85 you need to file to tell HMRC you have left the UK.

Re: your pension, you can check your state pension forecast here - https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension. How much you get will depend on how many qualifying years you have contributed for.

You can continue to pay a small amount from Canada if you wish to get a full pension if you're not already eligible.

HTH.
