The Palmer Tomkinsons (TPT's parents Charles and Patti) have been friends with Prince Charles since the 1970s. It was Patti PT who was seriously injured in a skiing accident in the late 1980s that also injured Prince Charles and killed his former equerry Hugh Lindsay. Tara was Prince Charles' goddaughter. She was also a (ghost-written) social diarist for the Sunday Times for a few years, a job she got probably for no other reason than her friendship with assorted royals and excellent social connections with the rich and famous. She certainly didn't write her own copy.

In the famous-for-being-famous stakes, she had a well publicised coke habit, was always prepared to make a fool of herself on camera, and basically made a career out of playing up for the tabloids. Which was epitomised, I suppose, by coming runner-up to Tony Blackburn in the original I'm A Celebrity... programme.

I met her and her sister Santa a couple of times in our teens, they seemed nice enough but a couple of years younger than me and in an entirely different social league

Sounds a bit like the Kardashian clan.....I think they take the all time award for being utterly useless human beings, and i cant for the life of me understand why so many people are so interested in their sad shallow pointless lives.

I think an interest in women with huge breasts conducting sexual acts generally considered taboo is a timeless one. Perhaps not one universally shared but not one that came along with Ray J.

On a slightly related note, I got a bit red-cheeked earlier.

I was on a call with a business associate in the US. Part-way though, I needed to check a particular company and Googled it.

I did not get the response I expected. A frozen screen of porn and a demand for money to unlock my PC.

Our external IT contractor was able to fix it. He has "ownership" of my computer and can see everything I can (I always find it spooky to see the cursor moving by itself!).

I don't know if he believed that it was an innocent mistake but he certainly agreed that the girl at the top-left has cracking norks.

Not exactly a celebrity, but RIP Mike Ilitch, aged 87.

Co-founder of the Little Caesars chain, and owner of the Detroit Red Wings (NHL) and Detroit Tigers (MLB) teams.

Stuart McLean

Probably an acquired taste but one I acquired. I've listened to many of his stories on CBC and I loved them.

Same here. Went and saw a recording of the Vinyl Cafe in St John's a few years back. Very sad. He'll be missed in our house.
