I hope Mr Printer doesn't mind me relaying his news that by switching the comprehensive part of his truck insurance from ICBC to Canadian Direct, he's reduced his truck premium by $1,000 to a more sane (normal) level.

I suspect that this explains my situation as well. I think I'll shop around when it comes to renewal.

I had my comprehensive through Canadian Direct as well as most of the liability, was 55 per month, the ICBC basic was 155 per month.

I only had the bare minimum with ICBC and it was the problem, rates were sky high.

Same coverage and same car is Alberta with State Farm was 102 per month.

Not at all, in fact it's been a real eye opener to me. I have friends who looked at Canadian direct and found the savings to be negligible so i didn't bother looking,
BIG MISTAKE!
I am now in the process of checking out costs for my sons too as there seems to be significant savings to be made particularly on the "comprehensive" bit.
