Nice catch, now let's hope many more fraudulent citizens follow the above example and get even bigger fines

for those of you who get stuck with a residency questionnaire and have to fill in tons of paperwork, it's because of people like this.
I, for one, am delighted that these people have been caught and are having to foot the bill.

signed citizenship forms claiming they lived in Canada for almost all of the previous four years when they really lived in the United Arab Emirates, a fact even posted online in the daughters’ public résumés on LinkedIn.
I remember back in my DWP days, asking someone declaring no income for a long standing benefits claim for 'ID' and he showed me a pay slip.
A pay slip, with current wage in formation.
Then, realising the implication, he says he's only just started the job. But the rate on the slip, coupled with taxable pay to date shows he's been working for months.
To claim that all four had been resident in Canada when there would be even more contradictory records than usual is just daft.

Why was the Canadian government asking for UAE entry and exit records? Doesn't the Canadian government keep records of who is coming and going from Canada?

Outbound and inbound air pax manifests are all logged and kept.
“There is no statute of limitation on the revocation of citizenship.”
“My understanding is that the government didn’t, in the past, go after cases like this in this way and now they are,”
Two very pertinent quotes for those considering fudging their applications! I recall a few who came on this forum with PR residency obligations not met trying to find ways to get around the system.

My question is - why? Why do people do this? If they are living in Dubai and obviously have visas in their Lebanese passports to do so, why did they bother with coming to Canada / getting Canadian citizenship? Could they not have stayed in the UAE and become Emiratis?
But OTOH - I wouldn't have revoked the citizenship of the daughter that was in high school - so obviously a minor and had no say in her family's immigration matters. Now she is probably barred from coming to Canada for life, at the fault of her parents.

Re minor child: the law offers contingencies for those who lost status as minors through parental decisions/actions which affects them without their knowledge/consent.
Now that I've finished spouting, I should probably go & read the article ;-)

Over the years living in a few foreign outposts, with a Canadian, I have had a thousand conversations with foreign nationals asking me why I hadn't got Canadian PR, as Canada is such an easy country to enter, some told me that Canada would give me money and housing and furniture...I thought my husband would explode with anger on occasion
I am glad that they are tightening up the rules, or at least being seen to do so, there is certainly a perception in some parts of the world that Canada is a very soft touch....not for the British however!
