We'll be helping him in going through training for a new trade (electrician). His current employers/slave drivers are going to be seriously narked when he quits.

Serves them right. They should have looked after him better.

Still, it'll give him more time to go snowboarding
Ha ha yeh er snow boarding that's a big unsure

I would say most people who have ridden bikes and been in amongst the biker community have most likely had an accident or known some one who has been killed. I have a few good friends who are not here now, taken too soon and I have been close on several occasions

Odd, I did it OK. I never exchanged my license, maybe that made a difference.

Mine was exchanged for an Ontario licence.

I had to do a test, so kept both licenses. A buddy recently exchanged his UK MC license to a BC license, 20 odd years after he arrived in Canada, no issues, license wise anyway.

That's interesting, but I suppose Provence to Province the rules will differ !

I "lost" my MC license in the move, and cheekily tried to order a new UK one, but it seems these days the authorities really are sending the surrendered UK licenses back. So yah M1, M2, M.

I got the trumpet out for the oil change on Saturday: also swapped the original screen back on for the original. Having removed the 2" bar risers last November, this means I've now bought a bike and started de-customising it.

Hello old age, dear friend.

My insurance broker won't even insure a Triumph 900 as a learner !! She actually said try Rider Plus.

My broker said their usual insurers wouldn't quote for the 675 Daytona... There's a fair old premium on "sports" bikes. The Trophy/ Sprint ST (itself a rocketship)/ GPz650/ Honda Magna (stop throwing things!) were all similar, with the Magna a tad cheaper.

The engine capacity appears to make the biggest difference in BC - I pay considerably less for a ZX10R, which is fractionally under a litre, than a friend who's got a BMW R1100GS with under half the horsepower.

Like Britain in the 80s, which is how I ended up with the YPVS, instead of the eminently more sensible GT550 kwack; Guzzi Lario or even something british...

OTOH I've heard that harleys now attract a premium here because of the number of middle aged born again bikers getting wiped out on them.

Yeah the Harley we have bumped the premiums up, the most expensive out of all three, yet to get insurance for Elsie.

I called Rider Plus today and got a quote for a 2005 Kawasaki 800 Vulcan Cruiser, as an M1 new rider, Lol, with a training course (at a cost of $450+tax) for $1,016 Not as bad as I thought it would be, I am over 20 :@) by 33 years.

I am paying something like $2400 a year with $5m liability, comp and collision (part ICBC, part private). Discount for gang membership and discount as an instructor.
