Re: Anyone into birds?
Oh thank you Siouxie...I will definitely look at this link. We must be inundated with woodpeckers as I hear them all the time. I do see a number when walking the dog and they aren't at all shy. I see the same one as Bristol, but according to 'The Lone Pine Nature Guide to Atlantic Canada' we only get The Downy Woodpecker, The Black Backed Woodpecker and the Pileated Woodpecker, none of which looks like Bristol's.

I've managed a few on this one WhatBird Wizard | identify birds | bird watching | bird guide | species | north america
Haven't found likely names yet.

I googled those. Too much white, not enough of a body too big for head.
I found something called a ruffed grouse and some of the pictures have the right sort of shape but colouring is not even close.

I've heard plenty in the area around our back yard but this is the first Mourning Dove I've seen - it landed on the deck rail just outside the window.
Feathers all ruffled in the wind.
(stock photo - just a coincidence also on deck rails)

Briarcliff Photography – I primarily photograph birds, wild animals, and other nature scenes in Westchester County, NY.
A friend recently set this site up. Photo's mostly from her back garden, but some fantastic birds.

I am in the school of don't watermark, it ruins the photos, especially right in the middle of the photo. If someone wants to nab the photo, they will easily do it even if you watermark the photo.

As for water marks, all school trick, convert image to lab colours, water mark it, then convert back to RGB or whatever you had it. Watermark won't be visible, but if someone used the image, chances are, they wouldn't have looked for it this way, so if they used it commercially, you could convert back to lab colours and see the watermark as proof it was your image.

Out and about, caught a couple of Cardinals and a Blue Jay.
Blue Jay, bit of a knob to photo though. I've got some amazing shots of his bottom, as he ducked out of all the great shots.

We've had blue jays swooping across the garden and the black capped chickadees have reappeared.
And the usual crows of course.

Managed to catch a pic of a wild turkey and a blue heron earlier today
Times like this though, would have been nice to have a automatic lens for the flying birds. Spot tricky doing everything in manual mode, but the Mamiya lens still rocks, even if it's from the late 60's.

The novelty of Hummingbirds at the hanging basket just the other side of the window has not worn off.
Nice green tint to one just now.
Had a new bird here the other day. White body, black wings with lots of white specks, like flicked paint. Haven't been able to identify it
