Default Anyone got any £ coins?

From midnight on Sunday 15 October, the coins will lose their legal tender status

but...
Thousands of shops are likely to ignore the Royal Mint’s deadline of Sunday to stop accepting old £1 coins.
I think I have a few somewhere.

Apparently British shoppers are "fuming" over being given the old coins in change, 1 week before they cease to be legal tender. Bet they would really fume if a shop refused to accept them before the deadline!

Old coins and notes can usually be changed at a bank after the cut off date.

Yes. Applies to £ coin. No need for any fuming, although I suspect it's just journalistic licence...

That's a bit old fashioned, going to a bank. Can you do it online or, at least, by phone?

Using cash is a bit old fashioned as well. I own a single £1 coin which I keep in the car and use only to release a trolley from the supermarket trolley rack.

And it's a new one so I'm good for several years.

Does it work in France? The last place I knew that did that was one of those ginormous stores near Calais.

I have a euro too but I keep that in the French car.

Amazingly it works in Italy and Germany and many other countries as well (the coin, not the car).

I'm not so sure: it did once upon a time no doubt.
