Prefer the old one. Always found it the perfect coin in weight, size, colour and value.

Apparently British shoppers are "fuming" over being given the old coins in change, 1 week before they cease to be legal tender. Bet they would really fume if a shop refused to accept them before the deadline!

Old coins and notes can usually be changed at a bank after the cut off date.

That's a bit old fashioned, going to a bank. Can you do it online or, at least, by phone?

Using cash is a bit old fashioned as well. I own a single £1 coin which I keep in the car and use only to release a trolley from the supermarket trolley rack.

And it's a new one so I'm good for several years.

Does it work in France? The last place I knew that did that was one of those ginormous stores near Calais.

I have a euro too but I keep that in the French car.

Amazingly it works in Italy and Germany and many other countries as well (the coin, not the car).
