Default Annoying- Chip and Pin card in US

Wait isn't this annoying. While most places have accepted our chip and pin Canadian credit card just fine, seems Sea Tac airport declines chip and pin Canadian cards or something, bank isn't sure what the issue is either as they didn't put a fraud alert on or anything on their end.

Worked fine at the hotel the hotel last night, as well as Wal-Mart, but no go at Sea Tac.

Hopefully this isn't going to be a regular thing down here and cause nothing but headaches.... Here's hoping it works in Vegas at the car rental joint.

Some US ATMs only accept a 4-digit PIN code. I had to change my RBC PIN from 5-digit to 4-digit last time I was in the US. Otherwise talk to your Canadian bank about it.

We have a 4 digit pin, had no idea RBC even did 5 digit pins... But nobody has asked for a pin number here, none of the places we have gone are chip and pin users.

Worked fine in Vegas when we got here, so must be a Sea Tac thing at the airport and their systems apparently not accepting chip cards or something, probably never know why it would not work at the airport.

Desjardins also does 5 digit PINs.

Not that you would have any way of knowing. The bank only has branches in QC, ON and Florida.

Just as an FYI - RBC and TD banks have up to 6-digit PIN codes.
