There's a member in the ME section that's from Malta I think...so could ask in there to see if the person is around, though it is holiday time for the ex-pats out there.

Have explored the possibility of Australia/New Zealand but very complicated as have 2 grown up kids who don't qualify. As Malta is English speaking with good climate thought we might as well put feelers out.Have lived in France & speak the language but its never as easy as the mother tongue!Very disallusioned with u.k!!

Malta isn't entirely English speaking (they have their own language). Also, there's a strong Roman Catholic culture there which may not be to everyone's taste.
I'm not trying to put you off or anything - just be aware that some people may be happy in Malta, and others definitely not. Have you visited?

Thankyou for your advice which we have taken onboard. We are not very religious so perhaps a holiday there would be a good idea before we make any decisions. Will let you know how we get on (although it might not be until spring!)

Hi there.
I am Maltese (tho not living in Malta)and can answer yr questions. Tho Malta is a catholic country it is also very open minded where other religions are concerned. We have some Catholic public holidays but I guess thats a bonus for everyone. Almost everyone in Malta starting from little tots to the eldery speak english so Language would def not be a prob. Most of us speak other languages as well since tourism is the main resource of the country. Weather is def good. Very short mild winters, usually starting late Nov till mid March. Summers are hot and humid but summers can be real nice in Malta. As regards to teenagers, they would love the social life there as loads and loads of clubs for the young and the not so young. Malta is getting a bit on the expensive side since we joined the EU so u might have to check that out as well. A lot of new taxes have been introduced. As regards to british living in Malta, I am sure its possible. Loads of my friends have recently relocated to the UK without any trouble at all so I guess since part of the EU brits get the same treatment. Pls check on this issue as not completely sure.
Ask away if u need know anything else. Will help where I can
